I went to Lake Wales Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Area is in the center of Florida, far away from the ocean, but but it felt like the waves were a breath away. Walking through the area is very interesting… there’s a lot of plant life that I’m not familiar with living on the west coast of Florida. But one thing that was the same was fetterbush. The Palmetto looked similar to saw palmetto but is actually Scrub Palmetto. And there were flowers that I hadn’t seen along the coastal plain. Some of the plants are endemic to Florida. Didn’t see any fire ants there at all. Only natives. I was happy to see a long-headed toothpick grasshopper, which is a stick bug looking thing. It’s a beautiful place… eventually it started to rain, so I got a rainbow for you!
